Mr. V. B. Haribhakti is also a prominent and well respected figure in the trade and industrial circles in India. The Government of India had appointed him as an independent director in public sector enterprises and as a member of the Sales Tax Enquiry Committee. He continues to render guidance to many large limited companies as an Independent director. Companies from diverse industries including Banking, Insurance and Finance, Pharmaceuticals, Electricals, Polythene Films, Textiles, Auto parts, Shipping and Real Estate across different geographies have benefited from consulting him in matters involving Assurance, Taxes and general business practices.

Mr. V. B. Haribhakti was the Deputy Leader of the Indian delegation to the IX International Congress of Accountants held in Paris where he submitted a paper on “Accountant’s Role in the Evaluation of Capital Investments”. He is the author of “Taxation of Non Residents in India”. He has written several articles and has been invited to speak at public forums on subjects ranging from Taxation Policy to Public Finance and Management.

As a recognition for his outstanding achievements, he was awarded the International Man of the Year 2000-01 by the International Centre, Cambridge, England.

He has been instrumental in putting together a leadership team with diverse skill sets and a common goal of offering holistic solutions to clients. He has personally championed the re-orientation of operations into a relationshipdriven model.

Through a career spanning more than two decades, Mr. Sharma has worked with all professional units within the Group and has led many engagements personally. He took a redefining leap by establishing the corporate finance practice and in successfully running the same. During this stint, the corporate finance practice achieved several path-breaking engagements, which were first of their kind in India.

For most of the new millennia, he has been actively involved in the Group’s strategic management. Over the last five years, he has completed six mergers to create a stronghold for the Group’s operations in India. Under his leadership, the Group has expanded the domestic reach from two cities to the current eleven. Mr. Sharma also played an influential role in forging the international footprint of the Group’s operations through the membership of BDO global.

Being a strong believer in nurturing young talent, he has actively participated in the Professional Development Committee of the Regional Council (western) of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India. Through this forum, he introduced ideas on the future direction of the Indian accounting profession.
